60-year-old woman critically injured in West Adams fire

A 60-year-old woman was critically injured in a fire at a two-story apartment building in the West Adams neighborhood of South Los Angeles Tuesday.

Firefighters were called at 2:48 a.m. to  2901 S. Palm Grove Ave. between South Harcourt and Vineyard avenues where they found flames coming from the second floor of the apartment building, said Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart.

It took 34 firefighters 22 minutes to extinguish the flames.

The woman, who was not identified, was taken to a hospital in critical condition. No firefighters were injured.

The LAFD 's Arson Investigation Section will be investigating the cause of the fire, Stewart said.
