Seven people were detained in a home invasion robbery that morphed into a kidnapping case in the San Fernando Valley.

It started early Thursday morning with a home invasion robbery on Calvert Street in Woodland Hills. Captain Scott Williams with the Los Angeles Police Department's Robbery Homicide Division said this was not a random incident.

“It was pretty clear from the evidence that we were able to gather that this was a targeted robbery of this residence,” he said. “The purpose for the robbery and what they were the suspects were able to get away with still unknown at this time.”

Capt. Williams said it was determined that as many as three people had been kidnapped.

Following a 36-hour investigation, tactical surveillance detectives foucused on a home on Kling Street in North Hollywood.
