Sean McLaughlin told KNX News’ Emily Valdez that on June 24th, his sister Jessica was working as a clerk at a 7-Eleven on Melrose Ave., when she was attacked by her assistant manager without provocation.
He said the assistant manager sat on top of his sister.
“Another coworker came over to assist my sister and try to pull the manager off, and the manager started attacking her too,” he said. “So there [are] two victims here.”
Jessica couldn't breathe for about 20 minutes and was declared brain dead. The assistant manager, who has not been identified, reportedly took off after the attack.
“It's devastated us, specifically for me and my family, like my wife and my children,” Sean said. “She lived with us. It was me, my wife, my two kids, my mother, my stepdad, and my sister, and we all live together.”
The family has a GoFundMe page to pay for the funeral, as well as other expenses. It can be found HERE.
