As temperatures soar in Southern California, air conditioning repair techs are fanning out across the region, trying to get some broken AC units fixed and the cool air blowing again.

Jorge Carbajal, the service manager for Brody Pennell Heating and Air Conditioning, told KNX News’ Jon Baird they have some 40 technicians heading out to fix some broken AC units on Friday.

“Each of them, we're trying to get four to five calls, and especially for a day like this,” he said. “They may run more. It's going to be wild.”

Carbajal said when it comes to deciding which customer gets priority.

“Especially elderly,” he said. “If they let us know, then those are definitely some people that we want to take care of first, and then if their unit just isn't working at all, then that's gonna be a priority.”

He also stressed the importance of AC techs watching out for signs or symptoms of heat stroke or heat exhaustion, adding that if they stop sweating, they need to get out.
