On Thursday, White House border czar Tom Homan announced that federal agents will “ramp up” activity in Los Angeles and other sanctuary cities.

Ron Gochez with Union Del Barrio told KNX News’ Jon Baird that he believes that when ICE ramps up the enforcement action again, the resistance could turn violent.

“This is getting to a boiling point, and there already has been violence, obviously, on the behalf of the Border Patrol and ICE and the federal government,” he said. “But they have to know that the people are not going to take it forever, and the people are organizing and it's just a matter of time.

He added that Union Del Barrio has been keeping an eye out for ICE activity in neighborhoods.

“When we see them, we denounce them on the spot,” he said. “We demand that they leave our neighborhoods and we use our megaphones to wake up the neighborhood, the community, and let them know that ICE is present. That lets people who are undocumented know that they're in their area and so that they can stay inside and protect themselves.”

He said they’ve already trained thousands of people to do community patrols and community self-defense.
