ICE carried out “aggressive” immigration raids in L.A. this morning.

Several councilmembers confirmed there were reports of unannounced immigration operations in their districts. Additional details haven’t been provided.

“The stories we're hearing are heartbreaking and indefensible,” Councilmember Eunisses Hernandez said. “When we fought to make Los Angeles a sanctuary city last year, it's because this is what we feared. We feared for our neighbors, for our families, for our children, families being ripped apart.”

More than 100 Pasadena Unified teachers and staff are being laid off.

The decision was made during last night’s school board meeting, with the district facing another $12 million in expected budget cuts next year. Some locals urged the board to reconsider, especially after so many staff members lost everything in the Eaton Fire.

“Cutting teachers is a completely counterproductive move because when word gets out that PUSD does not show up for its teachers, families will stop showing up at our schools and then,” said fifth-grade teacher Maureen Noble. “We are really gonna be in trouble.”

Trump made English the official language of the U.S. L.A. residents have mixed thoughts.

The executive order will roll back previous rules requiring government agencies to assist people who don’t speak English. But Mark, who lives in Westchester, told KNX News’ Jon Baird he thinks people should be able to communicate however they want.

“That's what the Constitution is for. That's what freedom of speech is for,” he said. “And it's a melting pot. We've come from other countries.”

The family of a man who was fatally shot by catalytic converter thieves in Inglewood is demanding answers.

Johnny Sanchez was shot and killed while trying to stop two men who appeared to be stealing a catalytic converter from a neighbor’s car. Ring camera footage shows him flagging down a passing fire truck moments before the deadly confrontation.

“They drove right by the crime scene, and he was shot in the chest by the criminals,” Sanchez’s sister Susana told KNX News’ Nataly Tavidian.
