LOS ANGELES (KNX) — The Rev. Al Sharpton will officiate and deliver the eulogy at the funeral for the 14-year-old girl killed by police in North Hollywood amid calls to justice for the girl’s family.
The National Action Network announced Wednesday that Sharpton will be leading the funeral services for Valentina Orellana Peralta, who died in her mother’s arms on Dec. 23 inside one of the store’s dressing rooms after she was struck by a stray bullet while trying on dresses.

Los Angeles police officers fired shots inside the store at an assault suspect and one bullet hit the wall. Valentina’s dressing room was on the other side.
The funeral will be held Monday at City of Refuge church in Gardena.
The LAPD has released statements calling the shooting a “tragedy” and has expressed its intention for a thorough, independent investigation, but many question why officers went into the store guns blazing during a busy holiday season.
Valentina’s family held a press conference calling for full transparency in the investigations into their daughter’s death and activists have called for the officer’s termination.
