Police in Anaheim are asking people who have security cameras outside their homes to sign up for a new program to help solve crimes.
Police are asking residents who have security cameras facing the street or outdoors to register them in case there's a big crime, so you can pull the video and send it to officers.
“Basically, what it does is it gives the police department the acknowledgement that there are cameras at the residence, that you're willing to share that camera if there's some kind of incident within your city,” Anaheim police Sgt. Jared DeWald told KNX News’ Emily Valdez.
De Wald said the department cannot tap into your cameras, so there's no privacy issue; however, they also launched a program for businesses that want to have some of their security video live-streamed into the Police Department.
