APPLE VALLEY, Calif. (KNX) — Apple Valley High School went into lockdown on Friday afternoon following a reported threat of a weapon on campus.

Apple Valley Sheriff's Department and school district police responded to the campus around 12:30 p.m.

“Students were at lunch and quickly moved into classrooms,” Apple Valley Unified School District wrote on Facebook.

The schools district said the lockdown was placed “out an abundance of caution.”

The lockdown was lifted just before 1:50 as officials said the “report of a weapon on campus is unfounded.”

After the lockdown, students were reportedly released to their parents, according to the Daily Press.

There were no reported injuries.
