Armed assault suspect fatally shot by L.A. police in Pacoima

LOS ANGELES (KNX) — A man suspected of assault with a deadly weapon died Tuesday after a reported officer-involved shooting in the Pacoima area of Los Angeles.

L.A. police were called to the 12900 block of Desmond Street shortly after 2 a.m. on report of a man armed with a knife. According to an LAPD spokesperson, officers attempted to take the suspect into custody at which point he was shot by one or more officers.

LAPD has not yet disclosed what prompted the officers to open fire on the suspect.

The suspect was taken to an area hospital where he died several hours later. The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation.
