The Los Angeles Police Department announced the arrests of four men accused of separate sexual assault incidents in the San Fernando Valley and called on additional victims to come forward.
Photos of the men were shared during Wednesday morning’s press conference “so that we can make sure that we have the strongest case moving forward and that we can also identify additional victims,” L.A. Deputy Chief Alan Hamilton said.
One of the men arrested was Edgar Munoz, a former teacher at Polytechnic High School. Police said the 43-year-old was charged with unlawful sex with a minor. The victim is believed to have been his student.
“Mr. Munoz utilized his position as a teacher to gain confidence with the victim,” Hamilton said.
Further details regarding Munoz’s arrest were not revealed.
Police also announced the arrest of Mario Orozco, 31. Authorities said that in the early morning hours of July 1, Orozco broke into several homes in the 18300 block of Vanowen Street and sexually assaulted the victims. He was arrested July 5.
“We searched through the area around Reseda and we were able to locate the individual in a homeless encampment not very far from one of the previous crime locations,” Hamilton said.
Blessing Wainiwheh, 30, was arrested June 29 after police say he went into a residence in the 19500 block of Saticoy Street by entering through the victim’s window while the victim was asleep. He’s also accused of sexually assaulting the victim.
Cedric Tinsley, 25, was arrested July 1 for breaking into a residence in the 19000 block of Astor Place and sexually assaulting the victim before taking off in the victim’s car.
Anyone with additional information on the cases was asked to call detectives at 818-832-1167, or 877-LAPD-247.
