VENICE (KNX) - A barricade situation involving a man presumed to be mentally ill came to an end Wednesday with no reported injuries.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the man began breaking glass inside the business in the 1100 block of Ocean Front Walk shortly after 1 p.m., then holed up inside the store.
A witness told KNX News’ Emily Valdez that a “man wearing a Dickie’s onesie with long brown hair” said UFOs were trying to abduct him and started to smash the windows of a market with a rock.
A mental-health negotiation team was dispatched to the scene in hopes of talking the man out of the store.
Emily Valdez said police offered a sandwich to the man in an attempt to coax him to the front door, but he ignored the offer and continued screaming.
Eventually, he did come to the door, where police were able to take him into custody as bystanders could be heard cheering for the positive outcome.
