Deputies from the South Los Angeles Sheriff's Station were called at 6:03 p.m. Monday to the 1100 block of West 110th Street, near Vermont Avenue, in Westmont regarding a suspect who was barricaded at the location, according to the Sheriff's Information Bureau.
The department's Special Enforcement Bureau was contacted and joined by the Crisis Negotiation Team "to make contact with the suspect to bring this to a peaceful conclusion," authorities said.
The suspect surrendered and was taken into custody without further incident at 2:40 a.m. Tuesday, said Lt . David Auner. The area was deemed safe, and nearby residents who had been evacuated earlier because of the standoff were allowed to return to their homes, the LASD said.
