The mom-and-pop market, which was named for the open fields that used to sprawl along Saticoy St. and Woodlake Ave., has been open for 21 years. It’s been used as a filming location for more than 400 movies, TV shows, and commercials.

The store’s co-owner Bill Rinck told the L.A. Daily News that he and his business partner Richard Smith are retiring when their lease ends at the end of the year.

“We are ready to liquidate and move onto our next adventure in life, retiring and seeing the world and not have to get up at three and four o’clock in the morning and come to work,” Rinck said.

The Daily Mail reports that Chaminade College Preparatory High School, which owns the property, plans to use the location to expand its campus.
