A vehicle-bicycle crash Tuesday morning in Newport Beach left the rider injured and prompted the shutdown of westbound lanes of Pacific Coast Highway.
The collision was reported at about 8:35 a.m. Tuesday on westbound PCH near Fernleaf Avenue, according to the Newport Beach Police Department.

The rider was in critical condition when taken to a hospital, according to the Newport Beach Fire Department.
The driver remained at the scene and was cooperating with the investigation, which closed all northbound lanes.
A Sigalert was issued at about 8:50 a.m. and the full westbound closure, beginning at Goldenrod Avenue, was expected to last a couple of hours.
