Bicyclist killed in crash near Universal Studios entrance ID’d

Authorities Monday identified a bicyclist who was killed in a crash near the entrance of Universal Studios over the weekend.

Firefighters and paramedics were dispatched at 12:47 a.m. Sunday to 3799 Lankershim Blvd., said Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Samuel Tessier, 57, of Los Angeles died at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.

According to the preliminary investigation, Tessier apparently was riding at a high rate of speed when the bicycle hit a curb and crashed, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
