Big rig crash kills one and injures another

SANTA CLARITA (CNS) - A person was killed and another person was injured Saturday in a two-vehicle crash involving a big rig on the Golden State (5) Freeway in Santa Clarita, authorities said.

The crash occurred at about 6:30 a.m. on the northbound freeway at Calgrove Boulevard, the California Highway Patrol reported. One person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Firefighters and paramedics dispatched to the location at 6:31 a.m. rushed one person to a hospital, according to a Los Angeles County Fire Department dispatcher. That person's condition was not immediately clear.

The CHP reported that a vehicle drove off the freeway, but no further information was immediately available.
