
CASTAIC (CNS) - A black bear was hit and killed on a freeway near Santa Clarita, the California Highway Patrol reported Friday. It was the second time this week a bear was hit and killed on a freeway near Santa Clarita.
The bear was hit by several vehicles on the northbound lanes of the Golden State (5) Freeway at Templin Highway around 10:30 p.m. Thursday.
Two lanes of the freeway were blocked by CHP until Caltrans crews arrived to remove the carcass of the bear from the freeway.
One of the cars, a BMW SUV, needed to be towed from the freeway. No drivers were hurt, according to media reports.
A bear cub was hit and killed on the Antelope Valley (14) Freeway on Monday.
