A brush fire that started in a River bottom in Santa Paula and is spreading quickly. Winds are strong in the area Monday.
So far, about 175 acres of dry fuel have burned along the river bed.
The Ventura County Fire Department is working to keep the fire contained between Highway 126 and South Mountain Road and to protect structures in the area.
According to the Ventura County Emergency page, the fire started around 11:44 a.m. Monday morning.
"An evacuation warning has been issued for the area surrounding Todd Road and Shell Road. Freeway access to the 126 HWY is closed in both directions at Briggs Road. South Mountain Road is closed."
