The Division of Occupational Safety & Health (Cal/OSHA) issued a recommendation Wednesday that all individuals in the workplace wear masks indoors regardless of vaccination status.
The recommendation comes in the heels of the California Department of Public Health’s updated guidance for the use of face coverings due to the increase of COVID-19 infections in the workplace.
While Cal/OSHA’s call to action is not an official mask mandate, it’s encouraging employers to make sure any employee who requests a mask at work is provided one.
California health officials say masks are still required in many indoor public settings whether one is vaccinated or not. These include public transit such as airplanes, subways, buses, and ride-shares, as well as K-12 schools, emergency shelters, healthcare settings like hospitals and clinics and senior care facilities, in addition to homeless shelters and jails.
