California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) took a shot at billionaire Elon Musk on Tuesday night after he made his decision to move the headquarters for SpaceX and X out of California.

Newsom shared his thoughts on Musk’s social media site X, saying, “You bent the Knee,” with a screenshot of a post from former President Trump criticizing the billionaire in 2022.

The remarks from Newsom followed Musk’s criticism of the governor earlier on Tuesday after Newsom signed a law that bans school districts from requiring parents to be notified if their child decides to change their gender identity.

Musk said that the law was “the final straw.”

“Because of this law and the many others that preceded it, attacking both families and companies, SpaceX will now move its HQ from Hawthorne, California, to Starbase, Texas,” Musk wrote on X.

The Tesla CEO said he had made it clear to Newsom “about a year ago that laws of this nature” would force residents out of California.

He also said that the longtime San Francisco headquarters for the social media company X, formerly Twitter, would relocate to Austin, Texas.

The screenshot Newsom attached to his response to Musk’s departure featured a post from Trump in which he suggested that he was the reason Musk was successful.

“When Elon Musk came to the White House asking me for help on all of his many subsidized projects, whether it’s electric cars that don’t drive long enough, driverless cars that crash, or rocket ships to nowhere, without which subsidies he’d be worthless, and telling me how he was a big Trump fan and Republican, I could have said, ‘drop to your knees and beg,’ and he would have done it,” Trump said.

Following the assassination attempt on former President Trump, Musk offered him his endorsement, pledging to donate $45 million a month to the president.
