Police arrest Canoga Park man for attempted murder after Shake Shack shooting

Police made an arrest Thursday in connection with a shooting earlier that day at the Canoga Park Shake Shack, authorities said.

Sebastiano Cummings-Cruz, 25, of Canoga Park has been arrested for attempted murder.

Los Angeles Police Department officers said they saw a man shooting through the windows of the fast-food restaurant when they arrived at the scene at around 12:07 p.m. The officers had received a radio call of a shooting in the 6400 block of Topanga Canyon Boulevard.

There were about 20 customers were in the restaurant at the time, including a 10-year-old girl, police said.

The suspect fled the scene, but officers were able to locate him shortly after. According to police, the suspect frequents the area and had created a disturbance at the restaurant. When he was asked to leave, Cummings-Cruz walked out of the restaurants before stopping to fire a number of shots at the storefront windows, which shattered.

No one was injured by the gunfire.
