BURBANK, Calif. (KNX) — A North Hollywood man suspected in a spree of daytime burglaries was arrested Wednesday by Burbank police as he was burglarizing a vehicle, according to police.
The crimes allegedly began on Jan. 18, when Burbank police took five vehicle burglary reports. The incidents happened in between the 1800 and 1900 blocks of Empire Avenue, as well as the 1600 block of Maria Street, police said.
The suspect, identified by police as 29-year-old Michael White, is accused of entering each vehicle by smashing a window.
Investigators used surveillance video from locations in the area to develop a suspect and vehicle description.
Then at around 3 p.m. Wednesday, Burbank officers located White and his vehicle seen in the videos as he was driving through the city.
Officers said they saw White drive into a parking structure at 2301 West Magnolia Boulevard, where they saw him smash the window of a vehicle and take property from inside.
White was detained as he attempted to leave the parking structure, police said. Detectives later served a search warrant at his North Hollywood residence and recovered stolen items from the thefts that happened on Jan. 18, in addition to property belonging to other victims of identity theft, police added.
White was arrested and booked on seven counts of burglary and one count of identity theft. He was being held on $190,000 bail and expected to appear in court Friday.
