
A suspect who led officers on a car chase from downtown L.A. through Hollywood, Echo Park and Silver Lake, clipping another moving vehicle during the pursuit, was taken into custody Wednesday morning after he fled on foot, ran across a freeway and tried to escape in a Hollywood neighborhood.

The chase came to an end around 6:15 a.m. in the area of Kenmore and Melrose avenues in Hollywood, after the suspect ditched the white sedan he was driving, ran across the Hollywood (101) Freeway near Melrose Avenue and into a neighborhood before officers quickly caught up with him.
A passenger who was in the car did not flee and was also taken into custody, according to broadcast reports.
The driver was wanted on suspicion of vehicle theft.
Officers began chasing him about 5:50 a.m. in the area of Ninth Street and San Pedro Avenue in Downtown Los Angeles.
