L.A. 2028 Olympics committee chair Casey Wasserman is being asked by several L.A. leaders to step down following revelations about racy emails exchanged with convicted sex offender Ghislaine Maxwell.
On Friday, Wasserman’s 2003 emails with Maxwell were revealed after the Department of Justice released over 3 million new Epstein files. In one of the emails, Wasserman asks Maxwell, “So, what do I have to do to see you in a tight leather outfit?”
In a statement released Saturday to the New York Times, Wasserman said he regretted his correspondence with Maxwell, adding that it occurred long before her horrific crimes came to light. He also said he never had “a personal or business relationship” with Epstein, ” but said he went on “a humanitarian trip as part of a delegation with the Clinton Foundation in 2002 on the Epstein plane.”
He ended his statement apologizing for his association with Epstein and Maxwell.
L.A. County Supervisor Janice Hahn told KNX News’ Craig Fiegener she thinks Wasserman should resign because it would be a “distraction.”
“We mention him, and we will then be dragged into the Epstein file scandal,” she said.

Councilmember Monica Rodriguez told Fiegener she also thinks Wasserman should step down.
“When you have individuals in close proximity to one of the greatest infractions against humanity, I just don't see how this is viable,” she said.
In an interview with CNN, Supervisor Lindsey Horvath said L.A. 28 should have a leader “who maybe isn't affiliated with a convicted human trafficker.”
Other L.A. leaders calling for Wasserman’s resignation include council members Hugo Soto-Martinez, Imelda G. Padilla, and Los Angeles City Controller Kenneth Mejia
In a statement, Mayor Karen Bass said that "any decision on the LA28 leadership must be made by the LA28 Board. "
