A little girl being treated at a Los Angeles hospital for a severe medical condition is facing deportation.

Four-year-old Sofia has short bowel syndrome and is being treated at the Children’s Hospital of L.A.

Her mother, Deysi, said via translator that the humanitarian parole visa she got in 2023 so that Sofia could get treatment has been revoked.

“If deported and removed from accessing her specialized medical care, Sofia’s doctors have been clear that she will die within days,” the family’s attorney said.

Deysi said the backpack Sofia carries contains treatment for her condition, and it can’t leave the U.S.

“I am very scared because Sofia runs the risk of not receiving the treatment that she requires for her condition, and if we return back to our country, she would be at the hospital day and night,” her mother’s translator said.

The family's attorney says they've reached out to immigration and even reapplied for humanitarian parole, but so far have gotten no response.

“Had anyone taken the time to conduct an individualized assessment of my client's case, we are confident that they would clearly see the humanitarian need,” the attorney said.  “Either the government did not conduct an individualized assessment, which is required by law, or they made the cruel decision to send Sophia in harm's way.”

The family and their attorneys have also sent letters to the Trump administration about their case, but have yet to hear back.
