Valencia – Air Hollywood, the world’s largest indoor aviation studio, will host Cleared for Take Off, a special class designed to help people get over their fear of flying. Pilot Ron Nielsen, simply known as Captain Ron, will take people through the experience of commercial flight, beginning with a trip through a mock-up of an actual TSA checkpoint.
For more than 35 years, Captain Ron has been helping people overcome their anxieties through books, lectures, webinars, and in-person classes. Captain Ron is based in Phoenix and actually conducts classes aboard a Southwest Airlines plane that sits at Sky Harbor Airport. The class on Saturday will take place from 1-3 PM inside the fuselage of a wide body aircraft, which sits inside the Air Hollywood Studios in Valencia.
In May, Captain Ron will host an advanced class for those ready to go on an actual flight. Ron will accompany the students on a roundtrip flight from Burbank to Phoenix, complete with a graduation ceremony.

Captain Ron says the number one reason people finally face their aviation anxiety is guilt following a personal experience; someone missed a loved one’s funeral; someone couldn’t be near their loved one during an illness; someone lost a job or promotion because they wouldn’t get on a plane.
Ron estimates he’s helped thousands of people over his 35+ year career, and based on the feedback from students, he says he’s had a 100% success rate.
