Collision on Malibu Canyon Road leaves one dead, six injured

MALIBU, Calif. (KNX) – One woman was killed and six others were injured following a collision Saturday night in the Santa Monica Mountains.

The collision was reported at 8:30 p.m. on Malibu Canyon Road.

One of the cars in the collision rolled over and trapped at least one person inside, City News Service reported.

The woman, who was believed to be in her mid-20’s, was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials said six others were injured, with four in critical condition.

Fire crews had to perform emergency extraction methods to rescue the victims, according to CBS L.A.

The collision caused Malibu Canyon Road to be closed for hours for investigation after California Highway Patrol officials issued a SigAlert, KABC reported.

It's still unclear at this time what the cause of the collision was.
