Comedian and actor Richard Lewis died at his Los Angeles home on Tuesday. He was 76.
The comedian, who played himself on the hit HBO show Curb Your Enthusiasm, suffered a heart attack, his publicist told The Hollywood Reporter.
As a stand-up, Lewis made appearances on “The Tonight Show” and the “Late Show With David Letterman.” His comedy specials include “I’m in Pain,” “I’m Doomed,” and “Richard Lewis: The Magical Misery Tour.”
As an actor, Lewis appeared in 1979’s Diary of a Young Comic, Robin Hood: Men in Tights, and the 1993 sitcom Daddy Dearest.
In April 2023, Lewis announced he had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease two years prior and that he was retiring from stand-up comedy.
