Concertgoers were given a shock on Friday at the Walt Disney Concert Hall when the Los Angeles Philharmonic performance of Tchaikovsky’s fifth symphony was disrupted by what one attendee described as a “loud and full body orgasm.”
The claim was made by composer and music producer Magnus Fiennes on Twitter, describing the loud noise that several others have also confirmed hearing during the performance.
Audio that was allegedly taken during the performance depicts the loud noises that Fiennes and others heard. The audio has circulated on social media, with people giving their opinions.
The screaming took place during the symphony’s second movement and came from the balcony in the music hall.
Molly Grant, an attendee at the concert on Friday night, spoke with the LA Times about the “scream/moan” she heard. Grant said that when the noises started, “Everyone kind of turned to see what was happening.”
“I saw the girl after it had happened, and I assume that she ... had an orgasm because she was heavily breathing, and her partner was smiling and looking at her — like in an effort to not shame her,” Grant told the Times. “It was quite beautiful.”
Another woman on Twitter claimed that her friends were at the show and said, “some lady had a SCREAMING orgasm, to the point where the whole orchestra stopped playing,” adding that “some people really know how to live.”
Even though many have joked about the woman having an orgasm, it has not been confirmed that was what happened.
The Los Angeles Philharmonic has not commented on the scream or what happened during the Friday performance.
