California Highway Patrol officers were called at 3:57 a.m.
Saturday to the westbound freeway and Sunflower Avenue where they found several vehicles, including a black Ford F150, blocking multiple lanes of the freeway after the collision, CHP Officer Elizabeth Kravig told City New Service.
The victim -- whose name, age and gender were not immediately known -- was pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel.
The CHP reported debris from the collision was scattered along all lanes of the freeway.
It was not whether there were additional injuries.
Kravig said the CHP issued a SigAlert for the closure of all lanes of the westbound freeway for an unknown duration.
