After the owner of Villa’s Tacos made an appearance during Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show on Sunday, a crowd gathered outside the taqueria in Highland Park.

KNX News’ Pete Demetriou reported that more than 75 customers were in line when the taco stand opened up.  Denise and Lucas Vidari, a mother and son, told Demetriou they saw owner Victor Villa and his taco stand in the halftime show and came here in appreciation of the shoutout and to sample the food.

“I was not expecting that, especially since it was in San Francisco and this is in L.A., and then Victor isn't even like Puerto Rican,” she said. “So I was like, ‘Oh, what is he doing there?’ But that was so cool, and it was such a thrill for Angelenos to see that.”

Villas, who was wearing a Super Bowl 60 shirt, came to his taqueria on Figueroa St. He told Demetriou he was at first a bit uncertain as to how he was chosen to be in show.

"I represent, you know, kids who could look in the mirror and see myself in their eyes," he said. "When they look at themselves in the mirror. Hopefully they could see me in their eyes as well and just know that if I could do it - and I started with literally nothing. I started with the grill in the front yard of my grandma's house. If I could do it, then it's possible.
