A global technology outage has caused problems for people trying to check in and out of hotels Friday.

KNX News’ Pete Demetriou spoke to Karima, a traveler who was on the phone outside of JW Marriott in downtown L.A. trying to figure out when the last person in her party would arrive.

“We have a friend arriving from Seoul in a few hours and we just, we don't know,” Karima said.

She knows her friend is on the flight because it boarded before the outage happened. Karima explained she just wants to make sure her friend arrives today, even if she can’t immediately check into the hotel.

A hotel receptionist said there have been issues with automated checkout, arrivals, and even room service. Employees at the Ritz Carlton and JW Marriott said the majority of the problems happened between 6 a.m. to noon.
