Ventura County District Attorney Erik Nasarenko announced Wednesday that he would not be bringing charges against pop-star Britney Spears in connection with an alleged altercation with her housekeeper.
The D.A.'s office reportedly reviewed the case submitted by the Ventura County Sheriff's Department earlier this month and declined to to file charges, citing insufficient evidence and a lack of injury to the housekeeper.
On Aug. 16, Ventura sheriff's deputies responded to a call at Spears' residence. Spears' housekeeper later reported that she had an argument with the singer—who is presently battling her father over a court-mandated conservatorship of her estate. The housekeeper said the two argued over veterinary care of Spears' dog.
During the dispute, Spears was alleged to have slapper a phone out of the housekeeper's hand. Prosecutors did not ascertain "significant damage to the phone," according to a statement from Nasarenko's office.
