VENICE (CNS) - A man who had apparently been stabbed was found dead Tuesday in Venice near Marina del Rey.

Officers were sent to the 600 block of Washington Boulevard at about 6 a.m. after a passerby reported seeing what appeared to be a body lying on the ground between two homes, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The man, believed to be about 40-45 years old, died at the scene from apparent stab wounds, police said. His name was not immediately available.

The cause of death will have to be determined by the coroner's office, police said. No arrests were reported, and no suspect information was available.

Police did not immediately confirm a report from the scene that the victim might have been stabbed, and that one person was detained.
