A woman died Friday at a hospital in the Lancaster area, and an investigation was underway.
The woman was brought to the facility about 5:40 a.m. Friday from the 40900 block of 176th Street East, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department reported.

Information was not immediately available on the woman's identity or cause of death.
Sheriff's homicide detectives were investigating the death. Anyone with information on the case was urged to call the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500, or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS.
