One male student was injured after he got into a fight with another male student and the incident escalated into a stabbing, OCSD Sgt. Ryan Anderson told City News Service.

The victim, who's name and age have not been disclosed, was taken to the hospital with an injury "that did not appear to be life threatening" Anderson said.

While initially the Sheriff's Department did not disclose if the two involved in the fight were studnets, Saddleback Valley Unified School District spokeswoman Wendie Hauschild told The Orange County Register that both involved are students.

All students on campus were ordered to shelter in place while deputies ensured the campus was safe, according to authorities. The order was lifted and students were allowed to leave campus just before 3:40 p.m.

“At this time, it appears to be an isolated incident and one person has been detained,” the department tweeted.

A video shot by a student said to be of the incident that was shared on social media showed a fight being broken up near a knife on the ground, according to the publication. Students could be heard exclaiming, “There’s a knife” and “Oh my God,” and gasping, The Register reported.

Multiple people appeared to be fighting at the beginning of the minute-long video, when two of them dropped to the ground, according to the newspaper. A man – possibly a school employee – broke up the fight.

The man was then reportedly seen picking up the knife and walking away with one of the two involved in the fight, along with the knife.

There also wasn’t any suspect information available.

Authorities asked anyone with video or information related to the incident to contact the O.C. sheriff’s dispatch line at (714) 647-7000.
