A man and woman in their 70s and their dog were killed in San Juan Capistrano Tuesday, and the suspect was shot by an Orange County sheriff's deputy, authorities said.
According to the Orange County Sheriff's Department, deputies responded to a "domestic incident" at about 7:30 a.m. in the 32000 block of Alipaz Street.

Deputies who arrived at the San Juan Mobile Estates complex found the bodies of a 77-year-old man and 79-year-old woman, and their dog was also found dead, according to sheriff's Sgt. Matthew Parrish.
While deputies were on the scene, a caller told dispatchers there was a man covered in blood chasing a maintenance worker nearby, Parrish said. Deputies found that 41-year-old suspect near a bike trail at Calle Arroyo, and during the ensuing confrontation, he was shot by a deputy, Parrish said.

While deputies were on the scene, a caller told dispatchers that a man covered in blood was chasing a maintenance worker nearby and stole a golf cart, Parrish said. Deputies found that 41-year-old suspect, who had driven the golf cart along a bike trail to a spot near Calle Arroyo, and during the ensuing confrontation he was shot by a deputy, Parrish said.
It was not clear if the suspect had a weapon, or what prompted the shooting. He was taken to a hospital in critical but stable condition, Parrish said.
Parrish said it appears that "all these people are related in some fashion," but the exact relationship was still under investigation.
Authorities were not releasing the identities of the victims until they are confirmed and their relatives are notified. Likewise, the suspect's name was not released because it appears he is related to the victims, authorities said.
