A sheriff's deputy fired a shot at the end of a car chase involving a suspected car thief in East Los Angeles Wednesday, striking the vehicle but injuring no one.

The pursuit ended around 10 a.m. near Washington Boulevard and Eastern Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
Authorities did not immediately say when or where the pursuit began.
One shot was fired by a deputy before the suspect was taken into custody. An investigation was underway to determine if the shot was fired intentionally or accidentally.
The suspect's name and age were not immediately released.
