An exchange of words led to a fight that ended with a fatal shooting inside a Lawndale 7-Eleven store, authorities said Monday.
The shooting was reported about 8:05 p.m. Sunday at 15809 Prairie Ave., at Manhattan Beach Boulevard, Lt. Jose Salgado of the South Los Angeles Sheriff's Station told City News Service.

"Investigators learned the victim was inside a convenience store purchasing liquid beverages when the suspect entered...," according to a sheriff's department statement. "The victim and the suspect exchanged words with each other and a fight ensued between them. The suspect produced a firearm and shot the victim. The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle westbound through a nearby alley. The victim ran to a back aisle of the convenience store where he collapsed and was found by deputies."
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, Salgado said. His identity was not immediately released.
Two men were seen fleeing the store, he said.
It was not yet known if they were suspects.
Sheriff's homicide detectives were dispatched to the crime scene, Salgado said.
