A man's death in a Bell motel was under investigation Monday.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, at about 5:40 p.m. Sunday, a clerk at the motel in the 4400 block of Florence Avenue received a call requesting a welfare check on a tenant.

When the clerk entered the man's room, he found the man inside was unresponsive, so he immediately called 911.
Officers from the Bell Police Department responded and in turn summoned the Los Angeles County Fire Department, whose personnel pronounced the man dead at the scene, according to the Sheriff's Information Bureau.
The man's name and the circumstances of his death were not immediately available.
The sheriff's department did not disclose what led homicide detectives to take up the case.
