Detectives are hoping someone can help them identify the driver of a car who killed a man riding a moped in the Hyde Park area.
Friday, authorities released security video of the horrendous hit-and-run.
The crash occurred about 2:35 p.m. on April 1 on Crenshaw Boulevard near Westmount Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
A black Ford Flex hit the rider with such force that the man was ejected onto the roadway. The driver continued driving without stopping to identify themselves or render aid as required by law, police said. Paramedics took the injured man to a hospital, where he died two days later. His name was withheld, pending notification of his relatives.
A standing reward of up to $50,000 has been offered by the city of Los Angeles for information that helps solve a fatal hit and run.
Anyone with information on the case was urged to call LAPD South Traffic Division detectives at 323-421-2500; 877-LAPD-247; or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS.
