Los Angeles has a party house problem, according to city attorney Hydee Feldstein Soto and her office is cracking down on one company she says is a major contributor to the problem.

The city filed a lawsuit against the Nightfall Group, a firm that specializes in renting large luxury mansions in L.A., and Feldstein Soto told KNX reporter Nataly Tavidian, "That's not a permitted activity in a residentially zoned area."
She says the vacation rental company is not only violating L.A.'s short-term rental ordinance and party house ordinance, but the parties are also violent, loud, and causing a lot of problems in neighborhoods.
"We've had 250 calls in the last two years to Nightfall advertised properties," most complaints come from the hillsides above Beverly Hills and Hollywood Hills, she said.

Feldstein Soto also points out that these rentals take "thousands, thousands of residences out of our housing supply" and says the best way to combat this is by going after those who make money off these parties - including event planners, hosting platforms, and property owners.
On its website, the Nightfall Group lists more than 400 luxury homes in the L.A. area as short-term rentals, charging tens of thousands of dollars a night.
A spokesperson with the Nightfall Group says the allegations against them are "inaccurate and inflated."
Though a judge handling the initial claim decided not to intervene, the city attorney's office plans to file a motion for a preliminary injunction.
