Don Burgess to receive ASC Lifetime Achievement Award in March

Cinematographer Don Burgess, whose credits include "Forrest Gump," "Cast Away," and "Aquaman," will receive the American Society of Cinematographers' Lifetime Achievement Award in March, the organization announced Tuesday.

"Over the past 40 years, Don Burgess has been steadily inspiring us with his contribution to many of cinema's most memorable films," ASC President Shelly Johnson said in a statement. "Don is an amazingly talented artist whose body of work speaks powerfully to the strength of visual storytelling. He brings his vision and skill along with a deep commitment to collaboration, which is a guiding principle of our art form. Many of his films are woven into our cultural fabric -- you remember where you saw his work and who you were with. It is a sincere pleasure for the ASC to recognize Don's significant contributions to cinematography."

Burgess' other credits include "Flight," "The Polar Express," "The Book of Eli," "13 Going on 30," "Wonder" and "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines." His next film, "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom," is set for release in December.

He will receive the honor during th 38th annual ASC awards ceremony March 3 at The Beverly Hilton.

Also during the event, Steven Fierberg will receive the ASC Career Achievement in Television Award. His TV credits include "The Affair," "Emily in Paris," "Entourage" and "Kingpin." He also worked on films including "Secretary," "Love and Other Drugs," and "Twelve," and has worked on music videos for artists including Snoop Dogg, David Lee Roth, Dr. Dre and Tim McGraw.

Amy Vincent, whose credits include "Black Snake Moan" and "Eve's Bayou," will receive the society's Presidents Award for her service to the organization. Vincent is a member of the ASC Board of Governors and a founding member of its Vision Committee, aimed at fostering diversity and inclusion. According to ASC, Vincent is a champion for women in the film industry and takes part in a various mentorship programs while also teaching for the American Film Institute, Florida State University and Loyola Marymount University.
