Driver ejected in Palm Springs rollover crash dies from injuries

A driver who was ejected from an SUV that rolled over into the desert on Christmas Day in Palm Springs died from injuries at a hospital Thursday, authorities said.

Officers responded to a rollover crash at Landau Boulevard and Ramon Road at around 2:06 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Palm Springs Police Department.

A gray SUV was heading southbound on Landau Boulevard at high speed when the driver did not properly execute a turn, "causing the vehicle to leave the roadway and roll over into the desert," police said.

The driver was ejected, and no other occupants were in the vehicle, according to the department.

The driver was transported to a hospital with serious injuries but died approximately 12 hours later, police said.

It was not immediately known if drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
