An 86-year-old woman was killed and another driver injured in a two-vehicle collision near El Dorado Park in East Long Beach, authorities said Monday.

The crash occurred at 2:07 p.m. Sunday at Studebaker Road and Los Santos Drive between Stearns and Atherton streets, Long Beach Police Department Lt. Brandon Deis told City News Service.

The woman -- identified by the county Medical Examiner's office as Julieta Ayala of Long Beach -- was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The preliminary investigation revealed a 2015 Toyota Corolla driven by Ayala was ... westbound on Los Santos Drive when it came to a stop past the designated stop sign and was in the lanes of Studebaker Road," police said in a statement.

"A 2016 Chevrolet Colorado, driven by a 45-year-old resident of Long Beach, was traveling northbound on Studebaker Road and struck the Toyota Corolla in the intersection."

The driver of the Colorado remained at the scene, cooperated with investigators and was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, police said.

"At this time, speed, distracted driving, and impaired driving are not being considered as contributing factors in the collision," according to police.

Studebaker Road was temporarily closed for the investigation and later reopened, police said.

Anyone with information about the crash was urged to contact LBPD Collision Investigation Detail Detective Kevin Johansen at 562-570-7355.
