A man made a bizarre discovery when he walked into his Echo Park home.
Michael Duarte returned home around midnight on May 10 to find his place ransacked.
“My first thought was, ‘what animal got in and did this?’” he told KNX News’ Karen Adams. “Was this rats? And then I was like, was this raccoons? Was this a bear?”
Then he went into his bedroom.
“I saw there was a naked man sleeping in my bed,” he said. “That brings us full circle to the Goldilocks moment, and that is when I slowly closed the door, locked it, backed away, and then I called the police.”
Duarte believes the man, whom he described as a transient, was intent on burglarizing his home. He said the man had put tools, food, and a Shohei Ohtani bobblehead in some reusable bags. He added that the man ate his sweets and protein before consuming three Gas-X pills and an entire bottle of Pepto-Bismol.

In addition to stealing his stuff, Duarte said the man smashed a possum with his Buddha statue.
Officers arrested the man, who Duarte said did not leave quietly.
“He started to yell, ‘I'll kill you, I'll kill all of you,’” he said.
Duarte said his neighborhood is usually crime-free, but over the last two or three months, there's been an increase in transients trying to break into homes.
