Security video from a gas station in Altadena offers new evidence that Southern California Edison electrical equipment may have started the deadly Eaton Fire.
The video was posted on Vimeo by Edelson PC, one of the many law firms suing SCE over its purported role in the fire. It shows flashes of light on a dark hillside near the suspected origin of the Eaton Fire. Attorneys claim the flashes are sparks from a SoCal Edison transmission tower.
10 minutes later, flames erupt near the location of the flashes.
A spokesperson for SoCal Edison told the L.A. Times it’s “premature to comment or for anyone to draw conclusions” from the video.

At least 20 lawsuits have been filed accusing the utility of sparking the Eaton Fire. Investigators haven’t yet determined the cause of the blaze.
