LOS ANGELES (KNX) – A former officer with the Long Beach Police Department was sentenced to almost six years in prison for distributing sexually explicit images of children.
Anthony Brown, 57, was sentenced to 70 months in federal prison on Monday. In addition to his sentence, he was ordered to pay a $15,000 fine and will be put on “lifetime supervised release” following his release from prison, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office Central District of California.

Officials said from October 2019 to May 2020, Brown engaged in graphic sex chats on MeWe where he posed as his wife to “engage in graphic sex chats” and “discussed encouraging fictitious minor female relatives to participate in group sex acts.”
“While logged on and while he was on duty as a Long Beach Police Department officer, Brown distributed images of teenage and prepubescent girls engaged in sexually explicit conduct,” officials said in a press release.
In May 2020, the Long Beach Police Department received a tip regarding “a possible online crime against a child.” Brown was arrested and charged with possession and distribution of child pornography. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s dropped the charges for a federal prosecution.
Brown left the force in 2021 following the charges.
