As a heatwave moves into Southern California, the National Weather Service has issued an extreme heat warning for most of Los Angeles County through Thursday night.
Forecasters say temperatures will range from 90 to 110 degrees. NWS meteorologist Carol Ciliberti told KNX News that Woodland Hills will be one of the hottest spots on Tuesday.
“105, that's pretty toasty,” she said. “110 on Wednesday and then down to 104 on Thursday. So that's going to be one of the hotter locations outside of the Antelope Valley.”
She added that the “peak of the heat” will be Wednesday.
“It's gonna be a significant heat wave with the warm overnight minimum, so that doesn't allow the atmosphere to cool off, and it kind of gives the heat the next day a rolling start,” she said. “And then the other factor is with some monsoonal moisture coming up from the south, it makes things more uncomfortable. You just tend to that added humidity just makes you feel the heat.”
The Feds are issuing the usual warnings about being careful doing any outdoor activity and to pay extra attention to kids and pets.
The National Weather Service also says there's a chance of thunderstorms in the Antelope Valley and mountain areas Tuesday afternoon that may spread into the foothills and Valleys.
